Science Kits for Teens ;Chain Bridge
Are there any good science kits for teens? The Chain Bridge is a good choice for kids. It’s a physics and engineering kit.
Experimental principle:
Chain bridge is a kind of bridge in which the main girder is directly pulled on the bridge tower with many cables. It is a structural system which is combined with the pressure tower, the tension cables and the bending beam body. The two piers of the cable-stayed bridge support the weight of the whole bridge body, and the weight of the whole deck is evenly distributed on the two piers through the cable, so as to ensure the balance of the force on the deck.
Warning: It must be accompanied by a parent or teacher while assembling.
Accessores:
①bridge tower
②screw
③wooden connecting-rod
④glue
⑤cable
⑥body of bridge
Notes:
1.Please let them set for at least 10mins after sticking the bridge tower and wooden connecting-rods 2.Pay attention to the distance is about 3cm between the bridge tower and wooden connecting-rod.
Chain bridge came into being after the Second World War. At that time, the former Federal Republic of Germany was full of war ruins. How to restore the thousands of destroyed bridges was really a thorny problem. In the case of absolute need, German bridge engineers have created a new type of bridge – cable-stayed bridge. In this way, it can not only match the financial budget in investment, but also bear the increasing traffic volume in intensity.
The cable-stayed bridge is a kind of long and thin pavement made of steel or prestressed concrete, which is partially supported by thin steel wire. The rest of the support comes from the strength of the bridge deck and the girder itself. Therefore, it can save 50% steel compared with the ordinary suspension bridge.
